About Avelo Care

Avelo Care is an award-winning, independently owned and operated care company, supporting adults and older people in the comfort of their own homes across Thanet and surrounding areas

Our Philosophy

Our friendly approach is centered on putting the needs and preferences of the client first.  Whilst our Clients are not our Parents, we and you should expect the very same standards of care and support as we would for our own loved ones.  We are very much about doing things with people rather than for people.  In otherwords we aim to provide someone with just enough support so that they can find a way to continue to do the things that they enjoy but perhaps in a different way, and to support people to continue with every day tasks which may be considered as mundane sometimes, but have a place in our daily routines.

Taking care of our own people is key to providing the very best support in the area.  A trained workforce that feels appreciated and valued is a happy workforce, and a happy workforce will deliver a much better service, it's as simple as that.  Ensuring they are paid fairly for the work they do and providing the best remuneration packages helps us attract and retain the best people in the area.

Family-Centered Care

Often older people retire to the coast or their children move out of the area for university or work, which makes dealing with day to day things for their parents that bit more tricky.  Avelo is often the first point of contact for GP and hospital visits, pharmacies, district nurses and so on.  We liaise across a broad range of services on behalf of our clients and their families, arranging things like hospital appointments, blood tests, getting a footcare practitioner to visit all helps to provide peace of mind and enables families to spend meaningful and quality time with their loved ones.

We have long established relationships with many trusted services providers and trades, many of whom are members of Thanet Business Network (TBN) , a group of local businesses supporting each other and making a difference in their local community.  So whether you need a window cleaner, building adaptations, financial planning and care fees funding advice, an electrician, solicitor or gardener, we can probably recommend a local business who will be best placed to meet your needs.

In short, Avelo Care exists to take away some of the burdonsome tasks to enable you to spend quality time with your loved ones, and to provide peace of mind to families knowing that someone is taking care of things if they are not able to be there in person.

Quality and Safety

In addition to the relevant training and qualifications you would expect from the healthcare professionals we employ, a full quality care management system has been deployed and tailored to our needs and to help measure the support being provided. With consent from the Client, we are able to provide you with access to our core system so that you are able to see the daily support and outcomes for your loved ones.  This could be anything from seeing which Carer has been or is going to visit and at what time.  What Mum or Dad has eaten and had to drink that day, have they had a shower and change of clothes, where they have been and what activities have they been enjoying?  We think this is great for transparency and helps people stay connected with their loved ones.

An educated and trained workforce is a competent workforce which is why we have a blended approach to professional development.  Avelo has partnered with Careskills Academy to provide eLearning support to the team,  Echo Training is our preferred practical training provider and run several courses in our own training room here at the Marlowe Innovation Centre, Ramsgate and we also have a number of staff on funded training.  Avelo Care also provides in house training, often tailored to specific client needs or in house refresher training as and when required.

Each client home is risk assessed for the safety of the client and for our employees, we may make recommendations and will periodically review the home environment to help ensure the well-being of those residing at the property, and for those providing support at the premises.

Our Excellence

Our aim is simple, to be the Home Care Provider of Choice, and to be the Home Care Employer of choice in East Kent. But being good isn't good enough, we strive to be the best we can be and put thought and effort into each care package.  This approach has resulted in some truly amazing outcomes for our clients and has helped many people to get more out of life and to remain at home where they wish to be.

We are certainly not trying to be the biggest, cheapest or most expensive care provider in East Kent, we'll leave that to others to win those accolades, if we can go to bed at night knowing that we have done our best and made someone's day that bit easier or more fulfilled then that is good enough I think.
